Ancient Roots

The Sacred Tradition

The prayer shawl — known in Hebrew as the tallit — has been a sacred garment for thousands of years. In Scripture, the fringes of a garment carried spiritual significance: the woman with the issue of blood reached out to touch the hem of Jesus' garment and was made whole. Ruth asked Boaz to spread the corner of his garment over her as a sign of covering and covenant.

In the modern prayer shawl ministry, this ancient tradition is carried forward by women who knit, crochet, and weave with prayer on their lips. Every stitch is an act of intercession. Every completed shawl is a vessel of blessing, ready to be placed in the hands of someone who needs to feel the tangible love of God.

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge."

Psalm 91:4

Made with Purpose

How Each Shawl Is Made

01

Chosen with Prayer

Each shawl begins with a prayer for the recipient — known or unknown. The maker asks God to guide her hands and fill every stitch with His presence.

02

Crafted with Scripture

As the shawl takes shape, Scripture is spoken aloud over the work. Verses of healing, comfort, strength, and identity are woven into the fabric through prayer.

03

Blessed Before Sending

Before each shawl leaves the maker's hands, it is laid before God in a final prayer of blessing — that it would carry His peace to whoever receives it.

04

Received as a Gift

Whether given to a woman in illness, grief, celebration, or transition — the shawl arrives as a reminder: you are seen, you are prayed for, you are not alone.

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you."

Numbers 6:24–25

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."

Proverbs 31:25

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

1 Peter 5:7

"I have called you by name; you are mine."

Isaiah 43:1
